    • virtuous to a fault
    • uncompromising
    • undecided

    • emotionally open and therefore vulnerable

    General Personality:
As a trained lord of his dukedom, Drinian is fluent in a variety of languages, proficient in warfare, good with a bow, better still with a sword. He is somewhat disgraceful on a horse, though he rather enjoys hunting. He is obsessed with the sea and is known to spend long hours looking out at it. He is a gifted seaman and enjoys going rowing for hours on end, much to his mother's distress. He'd never let you know it (ever), but he has a very pleasant singing voice.

Drinian has a strong sense of loyalty and duty. To his land and subjects, to his King, and to his friends. However, he has always been aware of the perpetual tug-of-war of his loyalties to Miraz and Caspian. Though he would never admit it, he knew the day would come when he would need to choose between the two and though the day is fast approaching, Drinian still walks the line, trying to do what he thinks right, primarily for his subjects of his duchy, Bernal. A rational and pensive young man, Drinian has taken into account the threat upon his people should he openly align himself with Caspian. Drinian is slow to decide, warring with conflicting views and opinions and fully informing himself on a matter before forming his own opinion and acting upon it. However, once this decision has been made, Drinian stands steadfast.

In his day-to-day operations, Drinian is remarked to be exceedingly even tempered and pleasant to be with, at times offering agreeable forms of flattery. Able to put the highest of spirits at ease and conscious of the emotions of those around him, he is valued at a confidant by several at court. Due to several occasions in which Drinian has divulged his personal opinions--which were at conflict with the opinion of the court on the whole and put himself at great risk--Drinian is likewise known to be true to his word. It is for this reason that Miraz has solicited his alliance, knowing that should he receive an oath of fealty from Drinian, he would remain good to his word. As of yet, Drinian has only vowed he would remain loyal to Telmar and finds himself greatly disappointed that Caspian has chosen to fight under the Narnian flag rather than his own, the one which rightly represents his dominion.

    Character History
    Parents: Lord Roland, Lady Amirna
    Siblings: none

General History: (pending on Caspian's RPer's approval)
Born as the only son (and child) to a prominent duke of Telmar, Drinian had since birth been destined to become one of the ruling lords of Telmar. Lord Roland, a familiar and cherished boyhood friend of King Caspian IX, encouraged the fostering of a friendship between his young son and the even younger prince. As Roland was often times at court rather than at his duchy, he began to take his son to reside in the palace to better learn the political and social underpinnings of Telmar. Young Drinian was tutored by the finest sophists, philosophers, and rhetoricians of Telmar. Often, he was encouraged to show Caspian the way to manhood, though typically their time spent together consisted of romps about the countryside and attempting to best each other in physical feats.

Lord Roland was the first to suspect the murder of King Caspian IX, but was swiftly carried away by a sudden and violent illness several days afterward; he never had chance to give testimony. Upon his death, Drinian returned home to rule Bernal more intimately though made frequent and extended visits (which more closely resembled prolonged stays) to the castle.

Drinian was away when Caspian went missing, but came to court swiftly thereafter upon the legitimate pretense that he was to celebrate the birth of Lord Miraz's son. It was only upon speaking to Professor Cornelius that he learned the truth and only after Cornelius was suddenly imprisoned that Drinian began to question the death of his own father.

Nevertheless, Drinian believes the savagery of the creatures of Narnia to be indisputable and is half of a mind to believe that Caspian had indeed been taken by them during his flight. He is torn, but believes that a separation of human and non-human creatures must be maintained for a peaceful co-existence and wishes for Caspian to return to Telmar to dispute officially the claim to the throne.

(Setting: 2 years prior to Caspian's disappearance.)

Drinian trailed after the king and his nephew in the entourage of lords and dignitaries that seemed to follow the notables about the castle like a long, tangled train. At 16, Drinian was feeling much too young to be a Lord. Much too young to be caught inside all day.  He straightened as the group came to a gradual halt. Drinian did not strain his neck out to hear better. The scene which he could see partially obscured (due to the the great size of Lord Alsante's head) was one he had seen various times.

A visiting noble and his son, a callow looking youth whose cheekbones jutted unnaturally. Poor fellow, he must not see the light for all the politic he's been doing under his father's care. He may be grateful for it in time . . .

He watched as Caspian bowed, then the youth. Then Caspian and Miraz looked back. He felt the crowds part and felt . . . quite conspicuous.

Yes, they were looking at him.

Miraz's look bade him forward and, with a bow, Drinian obeyed.

"Lord Drinian, this is Lord Ataturk and his son, Trivolio." Drinian bowed once more. "Trivolio--" Ah yes, Drinian understood quite well now. "is new to the parts, and--" Miraz was cut off by the thin, clear voice of what Drinian first thought to be a girl's.

"It does not," Trivolio began, "take much, I do not think, to familiarize one's self with these parts. It looks all the same from out the window of the carriage, and I have seen enough of it in the traveling of five days."

Drinian noted Caspian's jaw tighten and eyes widen but Miraz remained stoic. Surprised, Drinian looked at Trivolio again. Well, he was still alive and so, he reasoned, the boy must be consequential. Or the father.

"You will show him around the castle while the other Lords meet," Miraz instructed and Drinian, with some relief, realized that not only was he not expected to sit in on the meeting, he was, in fact, not seen as a Lord at all, yet.

The stream of nobles flowed down the hall, leaving the two standing alone in the corridor. Drinian thought he caught the apologetic glance of Caspian, which he, rightly, sent directly back, knowing the young
prince would have to sit through a day of tiresome negotiations with the Calormene nobles, who were even more taciturn than the Telmarines.

"Well, Trivolio, I do not believe that we have--"

"I would rather Lord Ataturk if *you* are to be a lord as well, Lord Drinian," the boy said. "I believe I may be only one year your junior.

Drinian thought he looked about five.

"Certainly, my Lord," Drinian said with a thin smile. "What surprises of the castle would you first like to see?" he pressed on.

"As they are surprises, I could hardly begin to say. . . my *lord.*"

Drinian ran his tongue over the inside of his teeth, smiling. "Of course. How foolish of me. Let us start with the East Tower, which boasts the best view." And, he thought to himself, has the advantage of a very long fall.

    * All of this is contingent upon the approval of Caspian's RPer. I'd not wish to impose my unwritten history upon any existing frame.[/list]

Overall, good profile. There are just a few things you need to fix. First, you need at least one more paragraph for your personality. Secondly, Professor Cornelius probably wouldn't be around when Drinian was a young child. He was Caspian's tutor, but only for a short while before Caspian fled his uncle.
