Overall:
Delia is a very proper woman. Her long brown hair is often seen up in some fashion, the tresses neatly kept from falling in her face. Her posture is impeccable with a ramrod straight back and hands carefully folded in front of her. Her emotions are well concealed behind a straight and never breaking face which hides both joy and sadness when she does not want others to know her feelings. She is always seen dressed in the finest styles and designs, often with heavily jeweled necklaces and rings. Her five feet and eight inches is like a secret weapon as most men do not expect a woman to be so tall.

Natalie Dormer as Anne Boleyn (The Tudors)

- The De La Braose boys

General Personality:
First and foremost, Delia is a Lady and as such, she has a certain image to uphold. She is proper, polite, and practical. She is well aware of her position and status in society and is careful not to push her boundaries too much farther than their farthest limits. She also uses this position as much as she can for her own means. This is where the boundary pushing comes in. While she is a Lady, she is not a doll, lifeless on the shelf. She is full of thought and knowledge and with such comes opinions. Delia is not a woman who can go without her opinion being known.

Her tongue is sharp as the point of a dagger and pierces just as deeply. With her outspoken manner and her gift with words, she can both set up on a pedestal and undermine anyone who is foolish enough to underestimate her, or heaven forbid, patronize her, in one smooth verbal attack delivered from a carefully poised, politely smiling mouth. She is quick to anger, quick to hide it, quick to defend her position, and never moved from her beliefs. Treating her like as if being a woman has anything to do with how she should act or be spoken to is a grave mistake than many make over and over again. Delia is also quick to put them in their place.

On a softer note, the Lady Delia is a lover of the arts, particularly musical. She has such a passion for it, that she learned to play an instrument herself, the harp, and is very ill tempered when one of her strings break. One of her favorite hobbies is the challenge of learning to play new and more complicated tunes. Another favored past time is listening to the wild stories of one Sephen De La Braose, although she is firm in the belief that they are just stories and often tells Sephen just how silly he is for believing them true. Things are the way they are- there are no spells, witches, or mythical creatures in their ordinary, mundane life.

Character History
Parents: Lord Drake Mowbray (father); Lady Moira Mowbray (mother)
Siblings: Meross Mowbray (brother - deceased)

General History:
Three years before Delia was born, Lady Moira bore a son they named Meross. He died shortly after his first birthday, falling ill and not recovering. When two years later, they had a daughter, it was a blessing to them. The least childish thing Delia has done throughout her entire life is, every week, she visits the grave of her brother with a single flower, a different one every time, and says a prayer, feeling that she should try to live life for him to the best of her ability.

Growing up as the only daughter and child of Lord and Lady Mowbray, Delia was rather spoiled. Most of the time, she was given whatever she wanted and she became accustom to frequently getting her way. This is most likely what led to her outspokenness later in life, even after she was made to grow up. Getting and doing whatever she wanted gave her a sense of independence and a strong back bone that not many in her class can lay claim to. She pushed her boundaries in the name of the big brother she never knew.

She'd grown up along side two unscrupulous boys who would fast become good friends. She would spend her days playing with the sons of Lord and Lady De La Braose, acting like what her mother would describe as a 'wild thing' with all the playing and running and the hems of her skirts in tatters. She would spend her evenings, when allowed, in front of Lord Rynelf's chair, listening in fascination to his fantastical stories of talking beasts and mythical creatures. Not long after, it was Sephen who enthralled her with the tales, adding in his own twists and surprises into the story. Of course, while the stories were amazing, she did not believe them true and took to scoffing and shaking her head whenever a De La Braose insisted they were truths. Such things were impossible. Even as a child, she would not be drawn in to believe such stories, for they were only and just that- stories.

Such is life, all good things must come to an end. As Delia grew older, she began to spend less time with the boys, especially when Sephen started his education. Soon thereafter, she began her own lessons, which meant even less time spent with her friends. It wasn't long before it was unlady like to be running off with them, playing, walking around unescorted. Races were replaced with lessons, play fighting replaced with tea time, and comfortable clothes replaced with those of high style. Nothing she did would make her parents let her have her way this time. She became a subject of society.

Without her really noticing, the De La Braose family simply disappeared from her life entirely, leaving her only with memories, stories, and childish scrawls. Frustrated and bored, she insisted she be allowed to take up a hobby that would fill her dull routine with something enjoyable. Something to replace the fun, unlady-like things she was no longer permitted to take part in. After reviewing a number of different activities deemed appropriate for a Lady to partake in, she decided upon learning to play an instrument. One of the good things, she thought, that came from being a Lady and having to put childish things away was that her world was sometimes filled with the most beautiful music. She mostly enjoyed the sound of pan pipes, but it was the harp she chose to learn. She found it relaxing to sit back and randomly pluck at the strings after a particularly hazardous day, yet she took her lessons very seriously. The harp soon became her one escape and she would focus large amounts of energy on learning new pieces.

Sooner than she would have liked, she was, in her opinion, bombarded by suitors the moment she turned sixteen. One after the other, she refused their offers, their promises, and some she down right drove away with her outspoken and opinionated tongue. There is no rush to marry, but her parents are becoming concerned. She has long since passed the age range that normal girls marry, and still she turns down inquiring men. Delia doesn't know what it is she's waiting for, but she knows she can't put it off for too much longer before her parents become insistent that she choose. Or have the choice made for her.

As of late, with the country in turmoil over the run away Prince and the war brewing between he and his uncle, she thinks about Sephen and Killian while she plucks at the strings of her harp, gazing out into an empty field of memories. She is not a woman who likes politics and the fact that the impending war is forcing politics and choosing sides on the country infuriates her and makes her worry. At present, she has not chosen a side, deciding instead to just see the outcome and support whoever wins, though she doesn't know what sort of defense the prince could have that would stand up against his uncle's forces.

Other/Notes:
Intended to be Sephen De La Braose's love interest

Delia plucked absently at her harp strings, her face fixed on the sunset out the window. There was some sort of social gathering she was supposed to be readying herself for, but for some reason, she felt compelled to play. It wasn't anything, really. Random notes that soothed her. A sigh escaped her as once again, her thoughts travelled to the De La Braose boys who were, she should know, no longer boys, but grown men. She wondered sadly if she would even recognize them if they passed each other on the street. She couldn't even imagine what they would look like. Baby faces on top of broad shoulders.

A plate of untouched fruit and cheese sat on a low table at the foot of her bed that she had ignored since it's arrival. In fact, she'd asked that it be taken away, but apparently those were orders the maid wasn't allowed to follow. She was quite sure there would be plenty of food wherever it was they were going, so she didn't know why her mother insisted on her eating before she left. Well, actually she did. It was so she wouldn't be so inclined to eat at the gathering. Her mother was really wanting her to marry her off. Delia plucked hard at a string in frustration. Perhaps she just didn't want to wed. Was that so bad?

Actually, it was.

With a sigh, she stood and picked up the tray. Then, walking to the window, she opened it and dumped the contents out before putting the plate back. "Dorsa, you can take the plate now!" she called, knowing that the maid was hovering about out her room somewhere within calling distance. Another mother order. "I'm finished and I need to prepare for tonight's event." The young girl came in, quiet as a mouse and small as one, too. Delia's height even intimidated the help. She was the daughter of a much older woman who also worked for her parents. Often times, she envied the girl. Olma, her mother, was not urging her to marry. Then again, Dorsa was seventeen. She still had a while yet before her mother began to worry.

"Thank you, Dorsa. It was delicious." The girl was terribly shy, but that didn't stop her from shooting a look at Delia. She knew the Lady had not eaten a bite and was likely trying to figure out what she had done with the food. Yet, she said nothing and merely left Delia to dress for the night's affairs. If any man approached her with proposals and promises, she wasn't sure she would be able to control her temper this time around. She took time then, as she readied, to pity the poor man who would face her wrath.
